Congratulations to all of you! The beginning of this school year has been fantastic. Schedules are finalized and classes are running smoothly. Homebase classrooms are starting to pull together. Remember to sign in and out every day and follow the homebase expectation chart located in each homebase classroom.

Key Club officially had their first meeting on Wednesday and it was a great success. Key Club is still looking for members who are interested in joining. If you are looking for a fun, exciting club to join and…earn volunteer hours Key Club is for you. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 20th at 3:30 in the afternoon.

Monday, August 18th and Tuesday, August 19th are IRCHS curriculum days. Every student will be on campus for the full day. Your regular class schedule will not be followed. Your HomeBase teacher will review your class schedule for those two days today in HomeBase. Attendance is mandatory. Please review your schedule with your HomeBase teacher so you are aware of the time you need to arrive to school and the time you finish on both days.
All students who are in need of a parking sticker please see Ms. Bartol in RM 10 on the Main Campus. Parking stickers need to be purchased every year. The sticker you purchased last year is not good for this year. The cost of an IRCHS parking sticker is $10.00. All cars will need to have a 2008/2009 parking sticker no later than Wednesday, August 20th. Please come prepared with your tag number and make of car.
Most schedules have been corrected as per your requests. There will be no more schedule changes after today, Friday August 15th. Make sure that you have twenty eight hours on your schedule. It is imperative that you have seven academic classes on your schedule. Your HomeBase teachers will assist with checking schedules today during HomeBase.
Although the weather is fantastic, the dress code has not changed. All students still need to wear shirts with sleeves. All dresses, skirts, shorts need to reach the knee. No leggings are allowed under short shirts. If you plan on wearing leggings your shirts or dresses still need to reach the knee. Please do not wear bedroom slippers or pajamas to school.
Please make sure that you are using your IRCHS planner. If you have not received a planner, please request one from your HomeBase teacher. If you lose your planner you must pay $5.00 to receive a replacement.
Do not forget that YOUR PARENT must call the attendance line the DAY YOU ARE GOING TO BE ABSENT in order for your absence to show as excused on your attendance record. Mrs. Wiseman receives and records all phone calls. We do not excuse absences after the fact. If you know that you are going to be absent for an extended period of time, pick up a leave form in either front office, have it signed by your parent, your HomeBase teacher and turn it in to the front office prior to your extended absence. This way you and your teacher both can plan for any work that you may miss before you leave. If you have a medical absence your medical excuse needs to accompany your leave form. If you leave during the school day make sure that a parent signs you out in either front office. Do not assume that your absence is excused.
YOU MUST TAKE CARE OF THIS IN ORDER FOR YOUR ABSENCES TO BE RECORDED CORRECTLY.
Any lab fees that need to be paid must be turned in to the front office on the Main Campus. Ms. Bartol collects all monies paid to the school.
IRCHS school spirit day is every Friday. Please show your school spirit by wearing your IRCHS t-shirt or polo shirt on Fridays. If you do not own or if you are interested in purchasing an IRCHS t-shirt or polo shirt, they are on sale in the front office of the Main Campus.
Do not forget your PACK POINTS! Anyone who is caught performing a good dead is eligible for a PACK POINT. Teachers are watching. Pack points are already coming in to my office. We will pull the pack point for the student of the month on Friday, August 31st.
Dual-enrollment students…..If you have not signed up for your college classes please see Mrs. Santiago, Ms. Aversa or Mr. Sternberg immediately. College classes are filling up and you need to schedule as soon as possible. You must schedule your classes using the proper IRSC forms. Scheduling takes place at the Schumann Center on the Mueller campus.

PROCEDURES TO PICK UP DUAL ENROLLMENT BOOKS |
When you register for dual enrollment classes, Indian River Charter High School provides the books for you to use for that class. You do not need to go to the college bookstore for anything. When you register at the college, you bring your green copy of the registration and copy of the receipt to your guidance counselor. They give those forms to Mrs. Bainter in the library and you pick up your books in the library, room 26. These are checked out to you on the library computer. When your classes are over, you return the books to the library for other students to use them.
This semester’s dual enrollment books will be ready on Friday, Aug. 22. Please immediately return, to the library, any Dual Enrollment or charter school books you may have from the summer or last year.

The administration and faculty would like to extend our gratitude to the entire student body for their respectful attire this first week of school. Thank you. You have joyfully returned to our campus dressed appropriately and ready to work. Countless people have commented on how pleased they are with the decisions you have made each morning in regards to your dress. This has been a wonderful start to the new school year, and we can’t wait for next week.
Students please remember not to leave anything of value in your HomeBase while you are in class. All wallets, cell phones, iPods, lap top computers, money, should be on your person at all times. Do not leave anything personal or of value in your backpacks. It is most safe if you leave items that you do not need for school at home.
All seniors…Please remember to sign up for the ACT and SAT immediately. The deadline for ACT has passed. Late registration is available until August 22nd for the September 13th test. The next ACT registration is September 19th for the October 25th 2008. Please make sure that you speak with Mrs. Harrick regarding the SAT registration dates. There is not a lot of time left so please sign up as soon as possible.
HomeBase are closed to visitors except on Wednesdays.
If you are visiting a HomeBase classroom any day other than Wednesday you will receive a demerit. This will be enforced. Please abide by the visitation policy and be respectful of each HomeBase teacher’s wishes.
Remember that all HomeBase trash needs to be placed in the dumpster. If your HomeBase is on the Main campus you utilize the dumpster near the tennis courts. If your HomeBase is located on the VAPA campus you utilize the dumpster behind the drama and art room in the back VAPA parking lot.
DO NOT THROW YOUR HOMEBASE TRASH IN THE TRASH CANS ON THE DECK!
