 Location: Indian River Charter High School – Vero Beach, FL
 Reports To: Athletic Director
 Start Date: Immediately
 Employment Type: Seasonal (with potential for renewal)
 Compensation: Stipend-based

Position Overview:

Indian River Charter High School (IRCHS), a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA), is seeking a passionate and experienced Head Coach to lead our Boys and/or Girls Soccer Program. The ideal candidate will foster a culture of character, discipline, and excellence on and off the field, and align with the school’s mission of educational athletics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Leadership

    • Plan, organize, and supervise all aspects of the high school soccer program

    • Develop competitive game strategies and practice plans that align with FHSAA regulations and IRCHS values

    • Promote good sportsmanship, respect, teamwork, and academic achievement

  • Athlete Development

    • Conduct safe and effective training sessions

    • Support student-athlete academic performance and eligibility

    • Promote player development, conditioning, and injury prevention

  • Compliance & Administration

    • Maintain knowledge of and compliance with all FHSAA, school, and district policies

    • Communicate regularly with the Athletic Director regarding scheduling, equipment, transportation, and athlete eligibility

    • Coordinate and attend tryouts, practices, games, and postseason events

  • Community & Culture

    • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful team environment

    • Engage with families, staff, and the IRCHS community to support the program

    • Encourage athletes to participate in service and leadership opportunities

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred

  • Prior coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level strongly preferred

  • Knowledge of soccer fundamentals, rules, strategy, and conditioning techniques

  • CPR/First Aid and AED certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • FHSAA Coaching Certifications (or willingness to complete prior to season)

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Must pass a background check and fingerprint screening

Preferred Qualities:

  • Passion for working with high school student-athletes

  • Commitment to fostering character and academic success

  • Experience with FHSAA compliance and procedures

  • Ability to mentor assistant coaches and manage team logistics
