Charter Named #1 High School in Indian River County & Recognized Among U.S. News ‘Best High Schools’!

We have extraordinary news to celebrate! According to the newly released 2026–2027 Best High Schools rankings by U.S. News & World Report, Indian River Charter High School is officially ranked the #1 public high school in Indian River County! 

In addition to taking top honors locally, IRCHS earned a national ranking in the top 40% of nearly 18,000 public high schools evaluated nationwide. This milestone officially designates IRCHS as a U.S. News Best High School.

Earning a spot among the nation's "Best High Schools" and claiming the top spot in Indian River County is a testament to the culture of excellence built right here on our campus. From six of our students making history as the first in the county to earn their Cambridge AICE Diplomas with 100% Bright Futures funding, to our vibrant visual and performing arts programs, our Wolves continue to push boundaries.

This achievement belongs to our hardworking students, our dedicated teachers and staff, and the supportive parents and families who empower our school every single day.

How the Rankings Are Determined

The U.S. News & World Report rankings are produced in collaboration with RTI International, a global research firm. Unlike subjective surveys, these rankings are calculated using objective, 100% third-party data from official government and educational organizations, including the Florida Department of Education, the College Board (AP coursework), and International Baccalaureate (IB).

High schools are evaluated across the nation, state, and census-designated metropolitan areas based on key metrics:

• College Readiness & Advanced Coursework: Measuring student participation and success in rigorous college-level programs like AP courses and our flagship Cambridge AICE curriculum.

• State Assessment Performance: Student achievement and proficiency on state assessments in reading, math, and science (where IRCHS consistently scores well above state averages).

• Graduation Rates: High school completion rates that rank among the top 20% in Florida.

• Underserved Student Performance: Academic performance of historically underserved student populations relative to state averages.
